Belém delivers 30 homes and expands health services in Vila da Barca

The Belém municipal government handed over 30 residential units to families in the Vila da Barca neighbourhood on 20 June. The delivery concludes the housing phase of the project, which had been stalled with a debt of more than R$ 1 million before the current administration took over. Mayor Igor Normando said the new homes give “dignity” to families who waited years for construction to finish.

At the same ceremony the city announced that the local Basic Health Unit will be refurbished and turned into a Postão de Saúde da Família. The upgraded facility will host six health‑care teams (up from four), operate until 22:00 and provide primary‑care services such as consultations, vaccinations, prenatal care, examinations and chronic‑disease monitoring. Commercial spaces in the development remain to be completed by the end of the year.
