Brazil experiences abnormal heat across multiple states
Several municipalities across the Brazilian states of Bahia, Minas Gerais, Roraima, and Santa Catarina are expected to experience temperatures significantly above historical averages between October 24 and 28.
In Minas Gerais, João Pinheiro is projected to reach 39°C, exceeding its historical average by 8.6°C. In Santa Catarina, Braço do Norte is expected to see a temperature of 29°C, which is 10.2°C above its reference average. Roraima will also see elevated temperatures, with municipalities like Pacaraima, Caroebe, São João da Baliza, and Normandia recording highs between 33°C and 38°C.
In Bahia, Feira de Santana is forecasted to face rising temperatures through October 26, with highs reaching 38°C and thermal sensations as high as 41°C. This period will also see a progressive drop in relative humidity, falling to approximately 37%.
Meteorological data suggests these prolonged heatwaves may cause thermal discomfort for animals, increase water demand, and potentially impact crop development. Authorities recommend maintaining hydration and avoiding intense physical activity during peak sun hours.
