Brazil extends CNPC election registration deadline to September 30

The registration deadline for the election of civil society representatives to the National Council for Cultural Policy (CNPC) has been extended to September 30, 2026. Originally set to end on September 22, the Electoral Commission extended the period to encourage broader participation from civil society.

The CNPC is a consultative body responsible for discussing and establishing cultural and artistic guidelines in Brazil. The upcoming election will determine representatives for the 2026–2029 triennium. The revised public notice also includes updated rules for document analysis, scheduled for October 1 to 13, 2026, and allows for the inclusion of portfolios and videos during the appeals stage to correct initial disqualifications.

In Amapá, a support initiative is being held at the Culture Committee in Macapá to assist cultural agents with the registration process. This local effort aims to clarify the functions of the CNPC and facilitate registration through the Vota Cultura platform using gov.br accounts.
