Brazil Extends Deadline for 2026 FIES Student Loan Applications

The Ministry of Education (MEC) has extended the registration deadline for the 2026 second‑semester round of the Federal Student Financing Fund (FIES) to 23:59 on Sunday, 19 July. Applicants must register exclusively through the Portal Acesso Único.

FIES offers 75,500 slots across roughly 1,270 private higher‑education institutions and about 28,000 course‑shift options. Eligible candidates must have taken at least one ENEM exam since 2010, achieved a minimum average of 450 points, not scored zero on the essay, and have a gross family income of up to three minimum wages per person. The FIES Social sub‑program targets students listed in the Cadastro Único with per‑person income of up to half a minimum wage. The selection timeline remains unchanged: results are due on 30 July, supplemental registration runs 31 July–4 August, and the wait‑list will be called between 7 August and 24 September.
