Brazil fat cattle prices rise toward R$ 360 per arroba

The price of fat cattle in Brazil has risen significantly, reaching R$ 357.40 per arroba on September 23, 2026. This represents the highest level since late April, approaching the historical nominal peak of R$ 367.30 recorded on April 15.

The price increase is primarily driven by a restricted supply of animals ready for slaughter, which has offset moderate domestic consumption during the month. Looking ahead, market expectations suggest continued upward pressure due to preparations for export shipments to China, specifically regarding 2027 quotas.

Future contracts on the B3 exchange indicate a sustained bullish trend, with projections suggesting prices could oscillate between R$ 380.00 and R$ 390.00 per arroba by the end of 2026. Additionally, the price of fat cattle has risen more than that of calves in September, providing a slight gain for ranchers in replacement costs.
