Brazil Federal Police investigate political figures in new probes
The Brazilian Federal Police have uncovered new details regarding financial irregularities involving political figures. In the context of Operation Sem Refino, investigators identified that a company linked to lawyer Antônio Carlos da Conceição Santos, known as “Pipo”, paid R$ 10.5 thousand for caviar purchases made by former Rio de Janeiro Governor Cláudio Castro. Messages indicate Castro personally negotiated the purchase of various caviar types from Caviar Giaveri in São Paulo, requesting delivery to his hotel.
In a separate development, Federal Police seized R$ 510 thousand in cash from Valéria Rodrigues Linhares at Congonhas Airport in São Paulo. Linhares is the wife of Federal Deputy Cezinha de Madureira. During a baggage inspection, authorities discovered the amount exceeded the R$ 400 thousand she initially declared. The seizure follows revelations from messages extracted from former banker Daniel Vorcaro, which suggest connections between Deputy Madureira and efforts to facilitate meetings between high-profile figures, including the owner of Banco Master and a Supreme Federal Court minister.
