Brazil focuses on elderly voter engagement and education

In Brazil, efforts are underway to engage and prepare elderly voters for upcoming elections. The 99th Electoral Zone of Tubarão has launched the “Cidadania não tem idade: Vote Consciente” initiative. This program provides practical training for seniors, such as simulations using electronic voting machines, to ensure autonomy and reduce wait times at polling stations. The project has already reached Gravatal and is scheduled to visit Capivari de Baixo and Armazém.

Separately, President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva has used campaign events to encourage citizens over the age of 70 to participate in the electoral process. While voting is optional for those aged 70 and older under the Brazilian Constitution, Lula has urged this demographic to exercise their right to vote to influence the country's future.
