Brazil FM Mauro Vieira joins Luxembourg Climate Finance event
Brazilian Foreign Minister Mauro Vieira attended the first International Climate Finance Days in Luxembourg on 5 May, a high‑level gathering to discuss financing for the Tropical Forest Fund for Ever (TFFF), a mechanism created at COP30 to reward countries that preserve tropical forests.
Luxembourg announced it will become a member of the TFFF, committing €50 million through its Climate and Energy Fund until 2030 and pledging a long‑term annual contribution thereafter.
The TFFF, launched by Brazil at COP30 in Belém, already has contributions from Germany, France, Norway, the Netherlands, Indonesia and Portugal. Vieira also met local officials to discuss the provisional Mercosur‑EU trade agreement and highlighted bilateral investments amounting to about US$ 23.5 billion from Luxembourg into Brazil and roughly US$ 35 billion from Brazilian firms in Luxembourg.
The event marks the first visit by a Brazilian chancellor to Luxembourg since diplomatic relations were restored in 1911.
