Brazil fuel prices decline for third consecutive month in August

Average prices for gasoline, ethanol, and diesel S-10 in Brazil declined for the third consecutive month in August, according to data from ValeCard. Ethanol led the downward trend with a 2.06% decrease compared to July.

Since May, ethanol prices have accumulated a total reduction of 7.45%, significantly outpacing the declines in gasoline (1.21%) and diesel S-10 (1.97%). On a national average, ethanol dropped from R$ 4.365 to R$ 4.275 per liter, while gasoline fell from R$ 6.821 to R$ 6.774, and diesel S-10 decreased from R$ 7.196 to R$ 7.159.

ValeCard noted that the biofuel's supply dynamics are playing a key role in easing fuel costs, particularly in producing states. The company also highlighted that consumer prices remain influenced by distribution costs, taxes, and regional supply dynamics, alongside a government decision to temporarily extend gasoline subsidies until September 9.
