Brazil grain production projected to reach record 360.8 million tons

Brazil is projected to reach a record grain production of 360.8 million tons for the 2025/26 harvest, according to the 11th Grain Harvest Survey released by the National Supply Company (Conab). This represents a 2.4% increase compared to the previous cycle, driven by a 2.1% expansion in cultivated areas to approximately 83.5 million hectares.

Corn is expected to reach a total of 143 million tons, with the second crop alone estimated at 111 million tons. Soybean production is projected at 180.5 million tons. The state of Mato Grosso remains the national leader, with an estimated 51.6 million tons of soybeans and a total grain and fiber production approaching 114.9 million tons, setting a local historical record.

While overall production is rising, some challenges remain. Rice production is expected to fall to 11.1 million tons due to a 14% reduction in planted area. Additionally, adverse weather conditions have impacted crop development in parts of the Northeast, specifically in areas of Bahia, Sergipe, and Alagoas.
