Brazil Holds Community Screenings for 15th Human Rights and Climate Cinema Showcase

The 15th Mostra Cinema e Direitos Humanos (Human Rights and Climate Emergency Film Showcase) organized several community screenings across Rio de Janeiro state. On Thursday, May 18, the Cineclube Conexão Felipe Camarão presented two documentary films—"Eu Sou Raiz – Sessão Nego Bispo" and "Cerrado, Coração das Águas – Conexão Caatinga"—at Escola Estadual Clara Camarão in Felipe Camarão. The event gathered students, teachers and local residents for discussions on environmental preservation, cultural identity and climate impacts, with curators Carito Cavalcanti and coordinator Vera Santana commenting on cinema’s educational role.

Later, on June 25, ISNA – Impacto Social hosted a free Cine + ComCausa session at the Aldeia da Prata community centre in Itaboraí. The program screened the animated short "No início do Mundo," directed by Camila Osório, which explores intergenerational knowledge, nature, and belonging. Both activities are part of the national circuit of the showcase, which runs from 25 May to 30 June 2026 and aims to promote dialogue on human rights, climate change and social inclusion through film.
