Brazil implements vaccination strategies in Paraná and Natal

Health authorities in Brazil are implementing various strategies to improve vaccination coverage. In Paraná, the State Health Secretariat (Sesa), in partnership with the Ministry of Health, has trained 85 professionals to strengthen immunization strategies across the state's 399 municipalities. The training focuses on High-Quality Vaccination Activity (AVAQ) microplanning, a methodology intended to help local teams identify resource needs and map vulnerable populations. This initiative aims to reach the 95% coverage target set by the National Immunization Program (PNI) and recover high rates seen in 2024, which were impacted by administrative changes following the 2024 municipal elections.

In Natal, the 2026 National Multivaccination Campaign concluded with 58,109 doses administered between August 3 and September 1. The campaign, coordinated by the Municipal Health Secretariat, primarily targeted children and adolescents under 15. Of the total doses, 19,661 were influenza vaccines, 2,936 were for the triple viral vaccine (measles, mumps, and rubella), and 1,307 were for the Human Papillomavirus (HPV). Vaccination services in Natal remain available year-round through local health units and specific shopping mall locations.
