Brazil intensifies fight against electoral harassment in workplaces
Brazilian authorities are intensifying efforts to combat electoral harassment and protect voter freedom. In the interior of São Paulo, the Labor Public Ministry (MPT) has recorded 121 complaints of electoral coercion in workplaces across regions including Presidente Prudente, Bauru, Araçatuba, São José do Rio Preto, and Sorocaba.
In Ceará, the Public Ministry of Ceará (MPCE) has signed a pact against electoral harassment. This initiative, held at the Regional Electoral Court of Ceará (TRE-CE), brings together various institutions to prevent threats, constraints, and other forms of coercion that interfere with individual voting choices. The pact aims to establish a protection network to identify risks and guide workers on how to respond to harassment, ensuring that political convictions do not result in negative consequences in the workplace.
