Brazil invests over R$ 230 million to expand rural mobile and internet coverage

Governor Carlos Massa Ratinho Junior of Paraná announced a partnership with telecom operator Vivo that will see a R$ 192 million investment to install 411 new antennas in 74 municipalities by the end of 2027. The rollout will extend mobile 4G/5G coverage to rural areas, major highways such as the full length of BR‑277, and tourism corridors, adding more than 580 km of mobile reach and increasing the state's network sites by over 16%. The project is part of Paraná's Rural Connectivity Programme aimed at supporting agriculture, education, telemedicine and other digital services.

The federal Ministry of Communications allocated R$ 39.1 million to the municipality of Juazeiro in Bahia to build 23 new radio‑base stations, bringing mobile signal to 24 rural localities. This investment is part of the nationwide rural telecom expansion, which already delivered 81 towers across 37 Bahian municipalities. The federal and state programs together total roughly R$ 262 million in digital inclusion and connectivity funding for Bahia, covering schools, computers for inclusion and robotics education initiatives.
