Brazil launches Amazon fiber link and pushes faster internet for remote Paraíba

Deputy Ruy Carneiro met with Communications Minister Frederico de Siqueira to request that federal funding for broadband be accelerated in remote areas of Paraíba. He highlighted the lack of service in communities such as Barra de Camaratuba, Mataraca, Dalmópolis and Juru, saying, "Infelizmente, muita gente na Paraíba ainda sofre sem sinal de internet," and urged the ministry to move the rollout ahead of the 2028‑2030 schedule to support education, commerce and health.

On 1 June, the Ministry of Communications, ANATEL and the Entity Administrator of the Band (EAF) inaugurated Infovia 03, an 800‑km sub‑river fiber‑optic cable linking Pará and Amapá. Part of the Norte Conectado program, the neutral‑operator network expands high‑speed broadband to more than 1.5 million residents, raises maximum speeds to 2 Gbps in some areas, and is expected to reduce outages while supporting public services across over 70 localities in the Amazon region, benefiting up to 7.5 million Brazilians.
