Brazil Ministry of Education launches learning strategies and digital library
The Brazilian Ministry of Education (MEC) has launched the ‘Brasil Aprende+’ strategy to assist states and municipalities in improving educational outcomes based on the 2025 Basic Education Development Index (Ideb). This national initiative involves an eight-stage process, ranging from data analysis to monitoring school-level actions, to help local networks identify challenges and create tailored action plans.
In Piauí, officials from the State Secretariat of Education (Seduc) and the National Union of Municipal Education Directors (Undime) met to discuss implementing these guidelines, focusing on elementary education and literacy programs. Similarly, in Alagoas, Seduc and Undime representatives met to align municipal efforts with the national strategy, emphasizing the importance of data-driven planning to advance student learning.
Additionally, the Ministry of Education has introduced the ‘MEC Livros’ app, a digital library providing free access to thousands of titles. The platform includes literary classics, contemporary works, and technical content, featuring accessibility tools and artificial intelligence to promote digital reading across Brazil.
