Brazil launches Brasil Aprende+ to improve education outcomes

The Brazilian Ministry of Education (MEC) has launched ‘Brasil Aprende+’, a national strategy designed to assist states, municipalities, and the Federal District in improving learning outcomes based on the 2025 Basic Education Development Index (Ideb) results.

The initiative follows an eight-stage process, ranging from data analysis to monitoring school actions. It aims to help educational networks identify challenges, set priorities, and create localized action plans. The strategy will be presented through 27 technical state meetings across the country.

In Roraima, a meeting was held involving the MEC, the Roraima State Secretariat of Education, and representatives from the National Union of Municipal Education Directors (Undime). Discussions focused on elementary education and the importance of coordination between state and municipal networks. Between 2023 and 2025, Roraima’s Ideb scores showed improvements in early elementary years (from 5.5 to 5.9) and high school (from 3.5 to 3.8).
