Brazil launches Brasil Aprende+ to improve education results

The Brazilian Ministry of Education (MEC) has launched ‘Brasil Aprende+’, a national strategy designed to assist states, municipalities, and the Federal District in improving educational outcomes. The initiative aims to transform the 2025 Basic Education Development Index (Ideb) results into concrete learning improvement actions.

The strategy involves an eight-stage process, ranging from data analysis and identifying challenges to defining priorities and monitoring school-level actions. A recent meeting in Amazonas brought together the MEC, the Amazonas State Secretariat of Education, and the state presidency of the National Union of Municipal Education Directors (Undime) to discuss learning indicators, specifically focusing on elementary education.

Kátia Schweickardt, the Secretary of Basic Education, emphasized the necessity of integrated participation between state and municipal governments to address learning challenges. The program seeks to use the months leading up to upcoming evaluations to support managers, teachers, and students through localized, collaborative strategies.
