Brazil launches fifth Eco Invest auction to fund green technology

On 28 April, Brazil's Ministry of Finance released the Operational Manual for the fifth round of the Eco Invest Brazil programme. The auction will finance projects in six strategic sectors: green fertilizers, advanced green fuels, automation and artificial intelligence for production processes, critical mineral beneficiation, battery and energy‑storage systems, and green chemistry, biomaterials and circular mineral waste.

The programme creates three financial instruments: specialised innovation funds for each chain, corporate‑credit financing for more mature projects, and non‑repayable resources for applied research and technology‑based entrepreneurship. Using a blended‑finance model, the government will lower part of the risk to attract private capital. The aim is to expand investment in technologies that accelerate decarbonisation and boost the competitiveness of Brazil's industry.

The manual details eligibility criteria, proposal procedures, resource‑use conditions and participant responsibilities. Documents are available on the Eco Invest Brazil page of the National Treasury portal. Coordination is led by the Ministries of Finance and Environment and Climate Change, with support from the Inter‑American Development Bank and the United Kingdom Embassy.
