Brazil green financing programmes
Entities: Ministry of Environment and Climate Change (Brazil) · United Kingdom Embassy · Inter‑American Development Bank · Eco Invest Brazil · Ministry of Finance (Brazil)
Overview
In early July 2026 Brazil announced the issuance of green bonds that raised roughly $5.5 billion, a move that expanded its climate fund by more than three hundred times. The proceeds were earmarked for a broad set of climate‑related projects, signalling a major scaling up of the country's green‑finance capacity.
Later that month, Brazil's Ministry of Finance released the operational manual for the fifth round of its Eco Invest Brazil programme. The auction will target green‑technology projects across six strategic sectors, including green fertilizers, advanced fuels, AI‑driven production, critical mineral processing, battery and storage systems, and green chemistry and biomaterials. The programme mixes specialised innovation funds, corporate‑credit financing, and non‑repayable resources to attract private investment through blended finance. Coordination involves the Ministries of Finance, Environment and Climate Change, with support from the Inter‑American Development Bank and the United Kingdom Embassy.
