Brazil launches major housing programs: 85,000 new homes and city subsidies for municipal workers

The federal government announced the construction of 85,000 new homes under the Minha Casa Minha Vida program, including 50,000 rural units and 35,000 urban units, funded with a R$10 billion investment by the Social Development Fund. The plan aims to assist low‑income families, agricultural workers, indigenous and quilombola communities, with eligibility based on income thresholds.

Separately, the municipality of Goiânia unveiled the Casa Nova Servidor program, offering a R$40,000 subsidy for municipal employees to purchase a 48‑square‑meter apartment. The first phase will provide 200 units in the city's north region, with a target of 1,000 homes over several years. Beneficiaries must have three years of residence, no existing property, and qualify for bank financing. Both initiatives seek to reduce Brazil's housing deficit and expand homeownership for vulnerable groups.
