Brazil launches mobile app for new IDs and senior parking permits
Brazilian authorities are expanding digital services that let citizens request official documents through mobile applications. The new Identity Card (CIN) can be applied for via state portals or apps, allowing users to locate service points, schedule appointments, pre‑enter data and track issuance, but an in‑person visit remains mandatory for document verification, biometric collection and photo capture.
Seniors aged 60 and over can also obtain the free senior parking credential entirely online through the Carteira Digital de Trânsito (CDT) app or the Senatran service portal, eliminating the need for a physical visit to DETRAN offices. The process requires a Gov.br login and permits the issuance and validation of the credential on a smartphone.
