Brazil launches Move Brasil financing for gig‑worker vehicles
The federal government’s Move Brasil program began offering credit on Monday, July 27, to professionals who use motorcycles, bicycles, cars or trucks for work. Eligible participants include app‑based drivers, motor‑taxi operators, delivery couriers and truckers. Financing is provided through partner banks such as Caixa and Banco do Brasil and is limited to vehicles manufactured in Brazil from 2024 onward.
For two‑wheelers, interest rates are set at 0.99% per month for men and 0.91% per month for women, with repayment terms of up to four years and a 60‑day grace period before the first installment. Car‑based financing for app drivers and taxi operators can cover vehicles up to R$150,000 with up to 72 months repayment and six months grace, while truck financing may extend to 120 months with a year‑long grace period. The scheme aims to modernise the fleet, encourage lower‑impact technologies and ease the cost of replacing aging work‑vehicles.
Applicants must first register on the official Gov.br portal, receive eligibility confirmation within five business days, and then complete the credit analysis with a participating bank. The loan amount is paid directly to the dealer rather than to the borrower’s account.
