Brazil launches national digital ID for teachers

The Brazilian Ministry of Education (MEC) has launched the Carteira Nacional Docente do Brasil (CNDB), an official digital identification document for teachers. The initiative is available to approximately 2.7 million educators working in both public and private institutions, covering all levels from early childhood education to higher education, including temporary staff.

To qualify, teachers must have a regular CPF with the Federal Revenue Service and an active registration in the e-Social system via their employer. The application process is conducted entirely online through the ‘Mais Professores para o Brasil’ platform using a ‘gov.br’ account. Users must verify their professional data, complete contact information, and upload a photo to generate the digital document, which features a personalized QR Code for validity verification.

The CNDB is valid for ten years and provides access to various benefits, such as specialized credit card conditions, discounts at hotels and retail stores, and facilitated half-price entry for cultural events like cinemas, theaters, and shows.
