Brazil Launches R$ 29 Million Rouannét Program for Central‑West Cultural Projects

On Monday, 15 June, Brazil's Ministry of Culture inaugurated the Programa Rouanet Centro‑Oeste in Cuiabá. The new scheme will allocate R$ 29 million to cultural projects in the states of Mato Grosso do Sul, Mato Grosso, Goiás and the Federal District. Funding comes from public companies—including Petrobras, TBG (Transportadora Brasileira Gasoduto Bolívia‑Brasil), Transpetro, the Banco do Brasil Foundation and Caixa Econômica Federal—in partnership with the federal government.

Eduardo Mendes Pinto, director‑president of the Fundação de Cultura de Mato Grosso do Sul, said the program is a strategic action to broaden artists' access to the Rouannét law, generate jobs and strengthen regional cultural identity. The initiative also emphasizes decentralising resources, encouraging new applicants and supporting diverse popular and traditional expressions. Detailed rules and inscription procedures will be published in the Official Gazette on 16 June.
