Brazil launches registrations for national school energy and inclusive practice awards

The 5th edition of the National Energy Efficiency Olympiad (ONEE) for 2026 has opened free registrations for public and private schools in Goiás. Eligible participants are students in 8th and 9th grades of primary school and 1st and 2nd years of high school. Registrations close on 15 September, with challenges scheduled for 4‑18 September, exams on 21‑25 September, and a national awards ceremony on 12 November. Winners receive medals, a notebook, and a trip to Brasília; outstanding teachers also receive travel vouchers. The competition is organized by the National Electric Energy Agency (ANEEL) and coordinated by the Instituto Abradee.

Separately, the 2026 Good Practices in Schools Award has opened free applications for teachers and pedagogical coordinators from Brazilian public basic‑education schools. The prize seeks inclusive projects that improve participation and accessibility, accepting submissions until 31 August. Projects must have been implemented for at least three months and demonstrate measurable results. Two categories cover early childhood through middle school and later stages up to high school. Each category will select three finalists and a winning practice, with evaluation based on documented evidence such as photos, videos, and data.

Both initiatives aim to promote innovative educational practices and recognize outstanding contributions within Brazil’s school system.
