Brazil leads global aesthetic surgery market amid technological shifts

The aesthetic surgery market is seeing significant technological advancements and shifts in consumer demand. According to the ISAPS Global Survey 2024, Brazil leads the world in aesthetic procedures, with liposuction being a top choice. Blepharoplasty (eyelid surgery) also reached a global peak in 2024, with over 2.1 million procedures performed worldwide.

New technologies are expanding treatment options for skin laxity and body contouring. Innovations such as Micro Spiral CO2 lasers, radiofrequency platforms like Endymed, and invasive radiofrequency are being used to treat skin, fat, and the septum to reduce scarring and improve recovery. While techniques like High Definition (HD) liposuction aim for anatomical definition, experts warn that results should remain natural and avoid excessive marking.

Other emerging methods include nanofat grafting, which uses processed patient fat for rejuvenation. However, the Brazilian Federal Council of Medicine (CFM) notes that scientific evidence for nanofat's superiority over established treatments remains low, citing a lack of long-term safety and efficacy data.
