Brazil continues to lead the global aesthetic market, ranking first in surgical procedures and second overall when non-surgical interventions are included, according to International Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ISAPS) data. Global demand for aesthetic procedures reached nearly 38 million in 2024, a 42.5% increase over four years. While the United States recorded the highest overall volume, Brazil led the world in surgical operations specifically, accounting for roughly 2.3 million. As the market matures, practitioners are increasingly prioritizing surgical safety and individualized recovery, such as the “Preservé” technique for breast augmentation, and addressing the demand for facial feminization surgery (FFS). Recently, a new driver for plastic surgery demand has emerged in Brazil: rapid weight loss fueled by the increased use of GLP-1 medications. Between May 2025 and May 2026, the three highest-grossing weight-loss medications in the country generated R$ 13.3 billion. Data from Serasa Experian shows that e-commerce orders for GLP-1 associated medications rose 149.3% in the first half of 2026 compared to the previous year, totaling R$ 2.3 billion. This trend is creating a specific need for body contouring and procedures to address skin sagging, as ISAPS notes that such rapid weight loss can impair skin elasticity and regeneration. In response to evolving trends, medical discussions in Brazil have turned toward specialized techniques like High Definition (HD) liposuction and nanofat grafting. While HD liposuction aims to highlight anatomical contours, experts warn against overly aggressive marking to avoid an artificial appearance. Regarding nanofat grafting—which uses stem cell-rich fat concentrates to improve skin firmness—the Brazilian Federal Council of Medicine (CFM) notes that scientific evidence regarding its superiority over established methods is currently “low-level” and lacks long-term safety data. Technological advancements are further expanding treatment options for skin laxity and body contouring.
