Brazil posts net gain of 145,161 formal jobs in June 2026

Brazil’s Novo Caged data show a net positive of 145,161 formal jobs in June 2026. The month recorded 2,220,131 admissions and 2,074,970 dismissals, leaving the formal‑employment stock at 48,032,308, a 0.30 % month‑over‑month rise. Over the last twelve months the cumulative net increase reached 942,854 jobs and every one of the five major economic groupings posted a positive balance.

The services sector added the most jobs (74,514), followed by agriculture (22,898), commerce (19,177), industry (4,438) and construction (14,136). The Southeast led generation with 70,383 net jobs, the Northeast added 34,433, the Centre‑West 19,617, the South 10,453 and the North 9,633. São Paulo posted the highest state net gain (34,981), with Minas Gerais (20,805) and Rio de Janeiro (16,856) also posting large increases.

Pernambuco recorded a net gain of 6,162 formal jobs, ranking second in the Northeast and seventh nationally. In Paraíba, the capital João Pessoa generated 86 % of the state’s new jobs, delivering 5,692 net positions in the first half of 2026. Campo Grande closed the first semester with a net increase of 3,541 formal jobs, driven chiefly by services (+2,088) and construction (+1,467). Despite the positive balance, hires fell compared with the same period a year earlier (161,999 jobs).
