Brazil minimum wage projected to reach R$ 1,717 in 2027

The Brazilian national minimum wage is projected to reach R$ 1,717 in 2027, according to the Budget Guidelines Bill (PLDO). This estimate represents a R$ 96 increase over the 2026 floor of R$ 1,621 and assumes a gain of approximately 2.5% above inflation.

This adjustment will directly impact Social Security payments managed by the INSS, including the annual 13th-month bonus for retirees and pensioners. The projected increase also affects various benefits such as temporary disability aid, accident aid, and the Continuous Provision Benefit (BPC/LOAS) for the elderly and people with disabilities. The final value remains subject to approval by Congress by the end of 2026.

In the state of São Paulo, the regional minimum wage remains higher than the national projection. The São Paulo state floor is set at R$ 1,874.36, following a 3.9% adjustment. This state-specific floor applies to approximately 70 professional categories that do not have a federally defined minimum wage, such as domestic workers, caregivers, and delivery riders.
