Brazil Minister promotes aquaculture and credit in Bahia
The Brazilian Minister of Fishing and Aquaculture, Edipo Araujo, conducted an agenda in Bahia focused on strengthening aquaculture and artisanal fishing. During visits to Camaçari and Salvador, the minister promoted public policies designed to support water-based workers and local production models.
In Camaçari, Araujo inspected the ‘Sisteminha’ production model implemented by Embrapa, which integrates tilapia farming with vegetable production to diversify resources. In Salvador, the minister met with artisanal fishers and aquaculture leaders to present ‘Pronaf Azul,’ a specific credit line within the Safra Plan. This credit line includes three modalities: Pronaf B, with an annual interest rate of 0.5%; and Pronaf Mais Alimentos and Pronaf Custeio, both featuring 2% annual interest rates.
