Brazil Ministry of Communications signs R$ 17.2 million digital TV contract

Brazil's Ministry of Communications has signed a new R$ 17.2 million contract to implement digital TV transmission stations in 35 additional locations. This move is part of the 'Brasil Digital' program, which aims to reach 400 locations by the end of 2027.

Supported by Anatel, the initiative seeks to expand the availability of free, open public channels from the Empresa Brasil de Comunicação (EBC) and the Legislative Network to municipalities currently lacking licensed stations. The program has already benefited over 8.4 million residents across 69 municipalities.

The expansion is being executed through three distinct fronts: direct contracts with the Ministry of Communications, a pilot project by the EBC, and work by the Digitalization of TV and RTV Channels Administrator (Seja Digital). With this latest contract, the total number of guaranteed stations under the Brasil Digital program reaches 339.
