Brazil Ministry of Culture extends cultural policy council election registration

The Brazilian Ministry of Culture has extended the registration deadline for the election of civil society representatives to the National Council for Cultural Policy (CNPC). Interested candidates now have until September 30, 2026, to formalize their participation, a delay from the original September 22 deadline.

The updated schedule also shifts the document analysis phase, which is now set to take place between October 1 and October 13, 2026. The electoral process continues to be managed through the digital platform Vota Cultura.

New guidelines have been introduced to facilitate the registration process. Candidates may now include additional materials, such as portfolios and videos, to correct issues that led to disqualification during the appeals phase. Additionally, the validation process for Black quotas has been simplified to allow remote confirmation via photos and videos, while traditional communities may use collective declaration forms signed by leadership.
