Brazil Ministry of Education launches new Sisu+ portal and UESPI teaching program

The Universidade Estadual do Piauí (UESPI) announced a selection process offering 160 seats in four undergraduate teaching degrees—Biology, Portuguese, Mathematics and Chemistry—across the municipalities of Barras, Campo Maior, Simões and Uruçuí. The program, part of the PRILEI initiative funded by the Ministry of Education, uses ENEM scores for classification, requires a minimum essay grade, and provides monthly scholarships for students who complete a teaching residency in public schools. Registration opens on June 18 and runs until July 1, with results expected in July and classes starting later that month.

The Ministry of Education also opened access to vacancies for the second semester through the newly introduced Sisu+ platform. The system aggregates spare seats from 34 public universities, allowing candidates who have taken the ENEM in the past three years to view and apply for these openings online. Applications are accepted from June 15‑19, with a pre‑selection list released on June 24 and enrollment processes beginning June 25 for regular candidates and July 1 for those on waiting lists. Sisu+ aims to streamline vacancy distribution, reduce administrative costs and broaden access to strategic fields such as teaching and engineering.
