Brazil Ministry of Finance launches tax‑benefits transparency panel

On Tuesday, Brazil's Ministry of Finance unveiled the “Panel of Characterization of Tax Benefits,” an online platform that aggregates data from the Federal Revenue Service to let citizens track tax exemptions and incentives. The tool shows that nearly R$ 340 billion in tax benefits were granted in 2024, covering 87 programmes and about 86 000 companies, with 46 % directed to low‑technology sectors and 59.1 % to municipalities with low vulnerability.

The panel, developed by the Secretariat of Economic Policy, allows users to filter benefits by economic sector, region, program and recipient firm, though it does not calculate the fiscal impact. Officials said the launch aims to improve transparency and support policy evaluation, and a joint work group from the Finance and Planning ministries will propose regulatory rules within the next 120 days, with continuous updates planned throughout the year.
