Brazil mobilizes resources to combat wildfires in Amazonas and Acre
Efforts to combat wildfires in Brazil are intensifying across different regions. In Amazonas, Grupo Atem has deployed operational support, including a 50,000-liter water tanker, to the Manaus Air Base to assist federal aircraft operations. This support aims to expedite water replenishment and reduce turnaround times for aircraft engaged in firefighting.
The federal mobilization in Amazonas includes 11 aircraft—such as Air Tractor planes, KC-390s, and helicopters—alongside 290 firefighters. Operations are being conducted through an integrated effort involving the Federal Government, the Amazonas State Government, Ibama, and the Military Fire Brigade.
In Rio Branco, Acre, a task force composed of municipal authorities, state agencies, and the Brazilian Army successfully contained a fire at an inert landfill. The containment was aided by recent rainfall and the deployment of water trucks and specialized firefighting vehicles to cool the area and extinguish remaining hotspots.
