Brazil municipalities expand healthcare with new health units
Municipalities in Brazil are expanding local healthcare infrastructure through new Basic Health Units (UBS).
In Indaiatuba, the 19th UBS has opened in Jardim Bela Vista. The 722.85-square-meter facility is designed to serve an estimated 30,000 people, including approximately 19,000 SUS users across 35 neighborhoods. The unit is staffed by a multidisciplinary team of 39 professionals, including family doctors, pediatricians, gynecologists, dentists, and psychologists. The facility features eight consultation rooms, a community pharmacy, and specialized areas for vaccination and maternal health.
In Tramandaí, the local government has launched a bidding process to construct a new 665-square-meter UBS in the Indianópolis neighborhood. The project, estimated at R$ 3.4 million, aims to triple the area's healthcare capacity by 2027. Once completed, the Level III unit will support three Family Health Strategy teams, significantly increasing the number of available doctors, nurses, and dentists compared to the current single-team setup.
