Brazil public health infrastructure developments
Overview
Brazil continues to expand its public health infrastructure through the construction of new facilities and the enhancement of emergency services. In Goiás, the Ministry of Health is overseeing the construction of four new Basic Health Units (UBS) in Divinópolis de Goiás, Monte Alegre de Goiás, and Cavalcante, supported by R$ 8.6 million from the Novo PAC Saúde program. Specifically, Divinópolis de Goiás and Monte Alegre de Goiás are each receiving R$ 1.9 million, while Cavalcante is allocated R$ 4.8 million for two units to provide local access to vaccinations, maternal care, and medical consultations. Separately, the municipality of Teixeira de Freitas is independently funding a new UBS in the Nova América neighborhood, which will include dental care, nursing offices, and specialized ambulance access.
Efforts to bolster emergency medical services have also progressed through the acquisition of new vehicles and equipment via the federal Novo PAC program. In Indaiatuba, the city has added four ambulances to support the Samu 192 service, consisting of one Advanced Support Ambulance (USA) and three Basic Support Ambulances (USB), with the municipality allocating R$ 170,000 monthly for operational costs. In Parauapebas, the health infrastructure was strengthened with a new Samu ambulance, a micro-bus dedicated to Treatment Outside of Domicile (TFD) featuring accessibility equipment, and various supplies for health teams.
