Brazil municipalities implement wildlife bridges and river monitoring sensors

In Brazil, local municipalities are implementing new environmental and safety technologies. Alta Floresta has launched the second phase of its ‘Alta Floresta Não Atropela’ project, which involves installing eight new canopy bridges. These structures are designed to protect wildlife by allowing arboreal animals, such as primates, to cross urban roads safely and reconnect forest fragments. The first phase of the project recorded over 17,000 animal crossings across seven existing points over nearly two years.

Meanwhile, the city of Cachoeirinha has begun installing sensors to monitor the water levels of the Gravataí River. The first of three planned sensors was deployed to track water volume changes and provide early warnings. The devices use cellular technology to transmit real-time data to an online management platform. If water levels exceed predefined minimum or maximum parameters, the system automatically sends email alerts every 10 minutes to designated officials.
