Brazil negotiates with Paraguay over border transit document fees

Brazil is negotiating with Paraguay to reduce the cost of the Border Neighbor Transit Document (DTVF) before the Integration Bridge opens to private vehicles on September 14. The discussions aim to establish a reciprocal tariff between the two nations to ensure fair costs for residents of border towns.

Currently, a significant price discrepancy exists. In Brazil, the document costs approximately R$ 63.85, whereas Paraguay has set the fee at 234,154 guaraníes, which is roughly R$ 200. Marcelo Mossi, a delegate of the Receita Federal in Foz do Iguaçu, stated that the Brazilian Ministry of Foreign Affairs is addressing this through bilateral negotiations to prevent the cost from becoming a barrier to mobility for residents of Foz do Iguaçu, Ciudad del Este, Presidente Franco, and Hernandarias.
