Brazil opens first World Skate‑certified skatepark in Salvador, begins Búzios skate facility
On July 3 2026, Brazil inaugurated its first and only World Skate‑certified skatepark in Praia Grande, Periperi, Salvador. The 5,000‑sqm venue, part of the Subúrbio Ferroviário VLT project, meets international competition standards and hosted the final of the STU National 2026.
The opening was attended by Vice‑Governor Geraldo Júnior and CTB president Eracy Lafuente, who emphasised the park’s role in urban transformation and youth sport.
At the same time, the municipality of Búzios announced the start of construction on a new skate complex on the border of the José Gonçalves and Baía Formosa neighbourhoods. Funded through a partnership between the federal government and the city, the project will feature multiple ramps, obstacles and support facilities for beginners to advanced riders.
Both initiatives are presented as investments in public sport infrastructure to broaden access, promote inclusion and boost Brazil’s capacity to host major skate competitions.
