Prouni launches enrollment for 2026 second‑semester scholarships
The Ministry of Education opened registration for the 2026 second‑semester round of the Programa Universidade para Todos (Prouni) on Tuesday, 7 July. Applications are free and must be submitted through the Portal Único de Acesso ao Ensino Superior by 23:59 hrs on Friday, 10 July.
MEC is offering a total of 471 304 scholarships across 380 courses at 879 private higher‑education institutions. Of these, 219 725 are full‑rate (100 % tuition coverage) and 251 579 are partial (50 % tuition coverage). Eligible candidates must have completed high school, taken the ENEM in 2024 or 2025, achieved a minimum average of 450 points, and not have a zero score on the essay. Income limits are up to 1.5 minimum wages per person for full‑rate scholarships and up to three minimum wages for partial‑rate scholarships. Applicants may qualify under several categories, including public‑school background, private‑school scholarships, people with disabilities, indigenous, afro‑descendant or mixed‑race candidates, and public‑school teachers seeking licentiate or pedagogy courses.
The first‑call results are scheduled for 15 July, the second call for 5 August, with a list‑of‑wait‑list period on 26‑27 August and final results on 1 September. The program appears nationwide, with states such as Paraná receiving over 29 000 scholarships.
