Brazil opens public selection for climate‑adaptation assistance to semi‑arid family farms

The National Agency for Technical Assistance and Rural Extension (ANATER) announced a public call for civil‑society organisations to submit proposals under the “Da Terra à Mesa – Garantia‑Safra Semiárido” edital. The programme implements the Climate Adaptation Strategy for Family Agriculture (EACAF) within the Garantia‑Safra Fund, aiming to strengthen resilience of family farms in Brazil’s semi‑arid region.

The selection targets at least 49,200 agricultural family production units across 50 territorial lots in ten states – Alagoas, Bahia, Ceará, Maranhão, Minas Gerais, Paraíba, Pernambuco, Piauí, Rio Grande do Norte and Sergipe. Eligible applicants are non‑profit private‑law NGOs that meet the technical, methodological and governance criteria set out in the edital. Proposals must be submitted between 30 July and 15 August 2026.

The initiative will provide technical assistance, climate‑smart technologies, and support for project implementation to improve productivity, diversify income, and reduce vulnerability of small‑holder families to climate impacts.
