Brazil pitches cultural projects to BRICS Development Bank as Peru funds theater groups for Chile festival

Brazil's Ministry of Culture, represented by executive secretary Márcio Tavares, met with BRICS New Development Bank President Dilma Rousseff in Shanghai to seek financing for upgrades to cultural facilities and the upcoming Brazil‑China Cultural Year 2026. The proposals emphasise sustainable infrastructure, technological upgrades and expanded community venues, and include a publicly‑available streaming platform with 555 audiovisual works.

In Lima, Peru's Ministry of Culture opened a national call for economic stimuli to support the internationalisation of Peruvian performing‑arts groups. Selected projects will receive up to S/ 25,000 each and will present at the FITAM International Festival’s PLATEA market in Chile in January 2027, providing access to global programmers, networking events and business‑to‑business meetings.

Both initiatives aim to boost cultural production, expand international exposure and attract foreign investment in the arts sector across the region.
