Brazil police arrest suspects in domestic‑violence incidents in Jaraguá do Sul and Campinápolis

Military Police in the southern Brazilian city of Jaraguá do Sul arrested a 22‑year‑old man after he attacked his 60‑year‑old parents with a knife during a domestic dispute. Officers forced entry to the home, used a rubber‑ ammunition round and control techniques to subdue the suspect, who was then taken to the Institute of Forensic Sciences and the civil police station.

In the central‑western state of São Paulo, Military Police also detained a 35‑year‑old man suspected of keeping his 77‑year‑old mother, who suffered from Alzheimer’s and other health issues, locked inside their home for several hours. The suspect was found with a machete and was charged with domestic violence, illegal confinement and threats after the mother was rescued.

Both cases underscore the persistent problem of domestic violence in Brazil, prompting authorities to urge the public to report abuse promptly.
