Brazil police probe deaths of two women in Amazonas and Acre

Luziane Almeida, 39, known locally as “Sammy Castelo,” was found dead on a Sunday morning in Coari, Amazonas, about 363 km from Manaus. Initial reports suggested suicide, but a preliminary forensic report was inconclusive and investigators noted possible tampering of the crime scene. Her husband appeared at the Coari police station with a lawyer, and the case remains under investigation by the Polícia Civil do Amazonas.

Clicya Correia, 35, a municipal employee in Tarauacá, Acre, was discovered dead in her home early Saturday morning. Police are examining the circumstances of her death, and the local mayor expressed condolences to her family. The investigation is being handled by the Polícia Civil do Acre.

Both cases involve police investigations into unexplained female deaths in Brazil’s northern region.
