Brazil police seize assets and block billions in crackdown on CV and Tren de Aragua

Brazilian police operations this week targeted two major criminal networks. In Ceará and seven other states, the Civil Police arrested 28 members of the Comando Vermelho (CV) and seized more than R$ 1 billion in cash, vehicles, weapons and five properties, while requesting the judiciary to block additional bank accounts linked to the gang.

Separately, the Justice system ordered the freezing of R$ 429 million in accounts and assets belonging to 34 suspects tied to the Venezuelan Tren de Aragua faction after a coordinated raid in six states. The operation also resulted in 13 preventive arrests and uncovered links to drug and arms trafficking.

A broader multinational effort, described as an international cooperation initiative, focused on Tren de Aragua’s arms‑smuggling pipeline from the United States and Colombia to Brazilian gangs. Authorities arrested 11 individuals, seized over R$ 300 million in cryptocurrency, and highlighted the need for cross‑border security protocols to combat the expanding organized‑crime networks in Latin America.
