Brazil President Lula warns Trump against meddling in Brazil elections
President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva defended Brazil’s electoral sovereignty in Geneva, telling former U.S. President Donald Trump that Brazil’s elections are a domestic matter and should not be interfered with. He said, “Não se meta nas eleições do Brasil,” and emphasized the integrity of Brazil’s voting system, claiming it delivers results within hours.
Lula also called for greater U.S.-Brazil cooperation on criminal matters, requesting the extradition of Brazilian suspects held in the United States and urging the U.S. to curb the flow of illegal firearms from Miami. He hinted that he will show Trump a Brazilian electronic ballot box in a future meeting, suggesting the U.S. could learn from Brazil’s electoral process.
