Helicopter crash in Rio de Janeiro kills four people FAST-MOVING
Four people died on Saturday morning when a Robinson R44 helicopter crashed in a steep, forested area of the Tijuca National Park near Vista Chinesa, Rio de Janeiro. The crash, which occurred during a "doors off" sightseeing flight, resulted in a forest fire that was subsequently controlled by emergency services.
The victims were identified as the pilot, Alessandro Rocha, and three Colombian tourists from the same family: Rocio Cubillos, Wendy Manrique, and Sofia Murillo. The family, consisting of a grandmother, mother, and daughter, was visiting Brazil for a 15th birthday celebration. The flight was operated by Voos Rio Panorâmico (VRP) and had a reported cost of R$ 2,550.
Authorities from the Civil Police and the Aeronautical Accident Investigation and Prevention Center (CENIPA) have launched investigations to determine the cause of the accident. Rio de Janeiro's mayor has called on the National Civil Aviation Agency (ANAC) to intensify inspections of sightseeing flights in the city.
