Brazil agriculture production reaches R$ 927.2 billion in 2025

Brazil's agricultural production reached R$ 927.2 billion in 2025, marking an 18.4% increase compared to 2024. According to IBGE data, the total volume of cereals, legumes, and oilseeds produced was 345.4 million tons, an 18.2% rise from the previous year. This growth follows a period of unfavorable weather caused by El Niño in 2024. For the first time, the total harvested area in Brazil exceeded 100 million hectares.

Soybeans remain the dominant crop, accounting for 34% of the total agricultural production value at R$ 315.2 billion. The soybean harvest grew by 14.4% to reach 165.2 million tons. Additionally, the Brazilian industry is projected to process 63.5 million tons of soybeans in 2026, according to Abiove, indicating rising domestic demand for products like soybean meal and oil.

Regionally, Goiás has emerged as a major agricultural powerhouse, leading the nation in tomato, sorghum, and sunflower production. The state produced 20.3 million tons of soybeans in 2025 and now accounts for 7.8% of Brazil's total agricultural production value, moving it into fifth place among Brazilian states.

Other sectors also show significant activity. The cotton industry is reaching record levels, with the 2025/26 harvest estimated at 4.14 million tons. Meanwhile, the livestock sector continues to expand, with discussions focusing on international market opportunities and the potential for Brazil to capture a significant share of the growing US beef import quota.
